Danielle + Franco

Romantic, regal, and refined; Danielle and Franco’s magical day at Sunnybrae Estate’s Ìkos

The Story

We officially met in winter 2019, when a mutual friend introduced us at a university lecture. A year later, we were in a group study session, preparing for an exam. We got into a friendly debate about who was right and who was wrong. To this day, we still don’t know (and neither of us is willing to concede!). Later that night, I sent him a message. From that moment on, we spoke every single day and were inseparable. The rest is history.

The Location

Our wedding ceremony was held at The Monastery, and throughout the day we went to the University of Adelaide and APOTECA for photos. We partied the night away at our reception held at Sunnybrae Estate’s stunning new space, Ìkos. Stepping into Ìkos feels like discovering a new chapter at Sunnybrae. I’ve always loved the grounds, and when Franco and I saw the new room, we knew it was where we wanted to begin our next chapter. Bathed in soft natural light and shaped by clean, modern lines, the space offers an understated luxury. It’s minimalist, airy, and effortlessly sophisticated. Its neutral palette and refined textures create a serene backdrop for any vision you want to create, and it was perfect for our wedding! The staff were warm and present, and their friendly demeanour ensured the evening remained comfortable and relaxed. As always, one of the most important things on a wedding night is food and this was truly where Ìkos shined! The team at Sunnybrae were very accommodating with dietary requirements and allergies ensuring that everything was perfection for us and our guests.

The Dress

I immediately fell in love with this Leah Da Gloriadress when I saw it, so Mum and I flew to Sydney to try it on. As soon as I put it on, I knew it was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted: timeless, sheer sleeves gave classic elegance, while the split in the skirt added movement and a hint of drama. It was the perfect balance of romantic, refined, and completely me. I felt like a real-life princess!

Standout Moment

Our entire day was amazing, so picking just one standout moment is incredibly difficult. One of many highlights for us was our candle ceremony, where we got to celebrate our two families coming together to become one. Of course, another highlight was my parents walking me down the aisle to give me away to the love of my life. My brother also got us a beautiful custom pocket watch with our names and wedding date engraved and stopped it at the moment we became husband and wife. Our whole day was a fairy tale, and we are so grateful we got to celebrate our love with the ones we love.
