Tasha + Nick

High school sweethearts Tasha and Nick Koerner-Bungey said ‘I Do’ in a ceremony for the ages, set against the stunning backdrop of the Southeast

The Theme + Planning

After [spending] 13 amazing years together [with Nick], myself and my mum, Wendye, had plenty of time to dream up ideas, so we were ready to get into wedding planning mode! We chose a venue, [Padthaway Estate], with timeless elegance, so we wanted to elevate it with minimal details – think white and green florals by Rebecca Starling, our signature tulle bows, black and white stationary – to create the feeling of an elegant garden party.

My bridesmaids brought a pop of pink and gold to stand out, while a black-tie dress code tied everything together. Olivia and her team at Padthaway Estate were incredibly helpful through the process, helping shape our vision and ensuring the day ran seamlessly.

The Dress

Alli Lynch of Betrothed Bridal created my stunning Mikado gown and silk neck piece. After some visits to bridal boutiques, I realised what styles I didn’t click with, and that’s how the style of my dress – unique, classic and sleek – evolved with Alli’s help. Not wanting a traditional train, the neck piece added the classic bridal feature, of which I had a second neckpiece made to keep the look complete throughout the night (minus the train!). She was an absolute joy to work with. Sarah Green, who designed my engagement ring with Nick and made our wedding bands, also helped design my earrings to complete my outfit.

The Location

We wanted our wedding day to feel like ‘us’ and our vendors helped make that happen. Our ceremony took place in the gardens, with the homestead as our backdrop. Our celebrant, Nadine Di Giorgio, crafted a perfect happy and light-hearted ceremony. Padthaway Estate’s team served Green Ant gin cocktails and canapés in the gardens, letting guests enjoy the venue and mingle on the lawns.

We hosted the reception in the marquee on our beautiful spring evening. Our goal was a happy, high-energy event, which we felt we achieved. Following some epic speeches from our dads and bridal party, Jake, our musician, did an incredible job bringing our own version of Jamiroquai’s ‘You Give Me Something’ together for our first dance – acoustic then kicking into the beat to get our dancefloor started (which didn’t stop!). Chopping Board Catering provided a delicious shared menu, followed by hot cinnamon donuts for ‘dessert on the d-floor’ (in place of a traditional wedding cake) and some late-night nibbles, which were all a hit. Dean and Annabelle, our photo and video team, brought a sunshine-like energy to our day and captured it seamlessly.

Why Padthaway Estate?

We chose Padthaway Estate for our wedding as it's a place we love visiting in the Southeast, where Nick is from. From the venue’s beautiful setting to its award-winning wines and warm hospitality from the Brown family made it the perfect choice. Our guests, many of whom were from the city, were blown-away by the venue just a couple of hours from Adelaide. We stayed and got ready in their stunning accommodation, while the boys got ready at the family farm, where some of our guests stayed in glamping tents by Tents SA. The team at Padthaway made hosting a wedding outside of Adelaide a breeze, accommodating our wishes and helping make our day unforgettable.
